The Energy Report
Oil & Gas Investment Bullentin
Casey’s Energy Opportunities This one looks pretty good…Turned me onto RPG.cn, right now it costs $40 a year…not bad at all in fact it is so cheap it worries me that it might not be that great or reliable.
I forgot to post this the other day, but I did load up some more on Sprott Resources. This is one of my favorite stocks, unfortunatley I think it will take awhile before it really takes off. Thus I continue to nibble when I can…It has now become one of our largest positions, so I will look to possibly trade a portion of this one, while maintaining a solid core position. Unfortunately, due to its size, I will probably not be able to average down my costs anymore….Hopefully we get a solid rally out of this.
I think this bodes well for the company. I like the CEO’s philosophy and it could pay off for shareholders eventually.
Crude Reality Attracts Barrie Company
Canadians take the initiative to get involved when it comes to International causes. Earthquakes, hurricanes, and now oil spills.
This past week, following news reports coming out of the Gulf of Mexico where the BP Oil spill has become one of the worst environmental disasters in recent years; Barrie, Ontario, Winning Brands Corporation expedited a shipment of its Winning Colors Stain removing agent to volunteer groups on the ground in Mississippi.
British Petroleum’s problem is presently unstoppable and cannot be capped off. The explosion has revealed possible systemic issues within BP’s corporate culture with regard to risk management.
As the gushing, spewing well continues to unleash crude from its bowels some 5000 feet below the surface, communities along the gulf coast of the United States brace themselves for what could have a “Katrina” effect but with a very different loss factor.
Winning Colours has built a successful business developing Eco-friendly products which they currently market in Canada, the USA, Australia and South Africa, so sending off a shipment to help-out seemed like a natural solution to an un-natural disaster.
“Canadians like to help out their American neighbours whenever we can,” suggests Winning Brands, CEO, Eric Lehner.
“When our team heard about the catastrophic runaway oil well, we knew that our expertise could come in handy somehow, in some productive way,” said Lehner.
This revelation prompted them to research potential spill clean-up volunteer groups in the State of Mississippi. Their goal was to suggest ways their eco-friendly products could arrest the effects of the spill on possibly wildlife, the volunteer workers themselves, their apparel, and on anything they saw fit to use it on.
“Your friends in Canada would like to adopt you and this is our gift. And you can have as much as you need—even if it runs into the thousands. The response to the offer was touching,” said Lehner.
This is not the first “wet cleaning” expedition for Winning Brands. They have recently made an agreement with Holland America Cruise Lines to switch out their solvent-based dry cleaning products onboard cruise ships for their Solvent Free Solutions non-toxic dry cleaning solutions otherwise known as “Wet cleaning”. So they are strong supporters and promoters of anything ECO.
Committed To An Eco-Friendly World
“It makes sense that everything we do, everything we use and everything we wear, from now on, should be eco-friendly. As long as there is human ingenuity people will keep finding ways to use what we do to make better choices for themselves and their families. The spectrum is wide. Whether it’s an oil spill, or a toddler’s sippy-cup accident, our products will continue to be “strong as solvents…but gentle like soap”. (Who could ask for anything more?)
Clean With A Clear Conscience
Lehner believes in people, worthy causes, humanitarianism, and, of course, Winning Colours Stain remover…but then that goes without saying.
However, I had to track him down. And I firmly believe that his unselfish willingness to take what he has, which he believes is useful and give it to someone who actually needs it, will be thank you enough for him.

And if it saves a thousand ducks or ten ducks or one duck, and helps with the clean-up, Winning Brands will have WON another fight…and so too, will everyone else involved in this environmental calamity.
Here’s to success in the Gulf Region. Good work Winning Brands!

This one was just horrible. It was up over 30% I should have sold before earning, I do not know what I was thinking…probably the worst mistake I have made. I knew Apple’s products were and are going to continue stealing smart phone share from them. In a market like this just meeting estimates will likely cause your share price to tank, but missing them has proven disastrous. What was once a big gainer has now turned into a pretty hefty lose. I ready to cut my losses and move on from this on….especially in this market…sad
This was just bad timing. I bought into this thing right when oil and the markets were rallying. I was impatient and paid for it. This stock has been tanking since my purchase. With so much uncertainty out there concerning soverign debt I am trying to free up a little capital to try and pick at the bottom here. I think the market is in for a slight correction here and quite frankly it makes sense. Perhaps I will be buying WFTSF much lower. If the stock hits $1.25 I will pick up some more shares again. When I bought this company I noted that my major concern was how quickly this company can turn sales into actual revenues. There latest quarterly results provided a new concern. It seems as though they had to replace several systems costing the company over $200K. This is not a good sign in my opinion. With the markets getting crushed, and more specifically oil getting spanked and foregin credit concerns, the dollar should continue to rally as a safe haven for investors. This will also hurt WFTSF, especially since they report in Canadian dollars. This one hurt and I am not happy on my timing here. Oh well live and learn. I am going to hold onto Sonic for a while. I feel dirty about this sale….hopefully it was for the best.
I bought a tiny position in this one so that I could have the chance to average down if need be. The stock is down today off no news and very little volume (the stock has liternally no volume to begin with though so not very substantial). I decided to nibble a little bit more of this one down here. This stock is pretty much dead from here until June when the testing is under way in Albania. Pending some successful results, this thing could be north of a dollar come the end of summer in my opinion. We will see…Honestly, I have been allocating a bigger part of the portfolio towards some riskier plays here. In my view it makes sense. For the money I am working with, a 3%, 10%, 20%, 30%….gain does not really mean too much in terms of the actual money returning to me. Therefore I have decided to use the solid profits we made during 2009 and put them to work in some riskier plays that I think have the potential to pay off big time. A company like Sonic could potentially reach over $10 or more depending on how successful their product it and whether or not companies are willing pay for it. HERE is my write up on Sonic.
I decided to average down a bit on this one. I originally bought a smaller position so that this option would be available. I am glad I did this as the stock fell a bit after the company announced a financing deal that was pretty dillutive. I put the order in at $2.17 but the thing popped on me. This brings my average cost down to $2.44. I am still have room to average down again if need be.
This is a simple picture that shows how Wavefront’s technology differs from current water pumps that are out there…(Wavefront’s technology is on the right)

This really has nothing to do with investing (or maybe it does at some level hidden between the lines), but none-the-less I stumbled across Michael’s story while doing some stock research (don’t ask me how…I don’t know myself). Anyways, I really enjoyed reading this and thought that anybody (if anybody is still reading this) that checks up on the blog might want to read. It also allows me to find it if I want to in the future.
